About the University

Founded in 1946 by B.M. Sreenivasaiah, BMS College of Engineering (BMSCE) in Basavanagudi, Bangalore, is India’s first private-sector engineering college. Managed by the B.M.S. Educational Trust and nurtured by B.S. Narayan, it is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) and became autonomous in 2008. With over 6,000 students, BMSCE is accredited by AICTE, NBA, and NAAC (A++ grade).

Academic Programs

BMSCE offers 14 undergraduate Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) programs, including Civil, Mechanical, Computer Science, and Aerospace Engineering, each spanning 4 years. It also provides 15 postgraduate programs (M.Tech, MBA, MCA) and PhD degrees. Admission is through Karnataka CET, COMEDK UGET, or management quota, with a lateral entry scheme for diploma holders. Courses are taught in English with a focus on outcome-based education.

Campus & Facilities

Located on Bull Temple Road, the BMSCE campus features Wi-Fi-enabled classrooms, advanced labs, a library, and a health care center. Separate hostels for boys and girls, a cafeteria, gym, and sports facilities support student life. The college fosters innovation through 14 research centers and collaborations with national and international institutes.

Rankings & Accreditation

Ranked 73rd among engineering colleges in India by NIRF 2020, BMSCE is accredited by NAAC (A++, 3.83/4.0, valid until 2024) and NBA (Tier I). It is the first Karnataka institution to receive NBA Tier I accreditation and is a recipient of AICTE’s NDF and MHRD’s GIAN schemes. Degrees are globally recognized, with strong industry connections.

Student Life

With over 6,000 students, BMSCE hosts vibrant events like Utsav, its annual cultural fest since 1973, attracting participants from IITs and other top institutes.
